Dr Bela Szebenyi was my consultant rheumatologist at Barrow In furness hospital. I really wanted to leave him a review but the hospital's listed were not the ones I saw him at, sorry for any inconvenience with regards to that. I went to see this consultant rheumatologist for a blood test to see if I had rheumatoid arthritis, he advised me that I had not long since had a blood test and did I really need another. The consultation progressed with this kind doctor asking lots of questions about my health (historically and currently) to enable him to make an informed decision about his diagnosis. The consultant then proceeded to press and touch certain parts of my body which unbeknown to me was a test. After the test and the multiple questions, he gave me a diagnosis of fibromyalgia and suggested I start a pregabalin immediately as fibromyalgia is classified as neuropathic pain on the N.I.C.E guidelines. I have since had an 11-month battle with the doctor which this lovely consultant rheumatologist tried to help with. If I am completely honest which I always am to a fault, this consultant rheumatologist is 110% trustworthy. He listens and does his job without judgment or prejudice. When I was advised I was suffering from institutional abuse from my then doctor, I returned to Dr Bela Szebenyi and asked him how people were treated in Hungary and he suggested spa treatments. Want an absolute angel this man is, he gave me a way to relieve some of the pain whilst I was subject to institutional abuse from my then doctor. I cannot say thank you to this man enough. Thank you thank you thank you.

This Dr listened, diagnosed me, but didn't ever give me any treatment. He left me for years increasingly debilitated by the condition, always joking that he'd give me medication, and then saying it didn't exist. Laughing at my unique case, never actually doing anything to help and not communicating the issues with my NHS doctor. Also, he made it clear I could only receive proper treatment, help and testing if I paid privately for the privilege. I lost everything. I lost my whole life. Because he didnt pass on the whole host of case files I was left without a rheumatologist and had to go through the whole process again. Now I have constant pain, mobility issues, and PTSD from how I was treated. Left untreated it irreparably damaged me, including my nervous system as well as the other systems. Never again, never again. Please anyone, and everyone, avoid at all costs.
